Etching and Engraving on metal plates ( Zinc, copper and steel) are the art of print making. The difference is the images of an Etching are etched into the metal plate with the help of acids while Engraving images are cut or chiseled directely with a highly sharpened tool call Burin. It is a long process and it demands a great deal of trained skill and technique to engrave but there is no other lines that are as crisp, elegant and beautiful as the engraved lines. Now day, there is only a handful of artists in the world
who still practice this art.
From the islands of Halong Bay to the dusty back roads of south Texas, Lap Ngo has traveled the world. His paintings are an expression of his journeys. They speak to us as beautifully as the "Bride" in the African Series tells us of her wedding day. Lap captures life in all his paintings from all his worlds whether that is a European village or a forgotten castle in Morocco.
